those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and

services that we offer to all of our guests/visitors.


Access Statement for Piers-View Guest House No. 20 Cliff Path

Introduction

Piers-View is situated on the famous Cliff Path in Lake which is located between the towns of Sandown and Shanklin on the Isle of Wight. We have 10 bedrooms, 2 single rooms, 5 double rooms 2 twin/treble rooms and 1 family room all with en-suite facilities. We also have a standard single room which has a toilet and wash hand basin and access to a bathroom.

The house was built in the 1930’s and we, as the current proprietors have owned Piers-View since 1986. Since then we have modernised and refurbished the building and grounds. Whilst we aim to meet the needs of all our guests there are some parts of the house which might make access difficult for people with limited mobility.

Pre-Arrival

You can plan your journey by car or public transport using the links on our brochure or website www.piers-view-iow.co.uk. If you are using a satnav enter PO36 8PL and put in via Lake Station and this should bring you to us, otherwise the postcode will bring you to the Cliff Path with no access to the guest house.

The nearest shops are in Lake village which include a Post Office, Fish and Chip shop, Chinese and Indian Take Aways and a Co-op with a cash point.

The nearest bus stops are in Lake village.

Lake railway station is approx. 200 metres from Piers-View.

Taxis are usually available at all ferry ports we use a local taxis service Akar Taxis 01983 401233.

We regret that we are unable to accommodate dogs/pets.


Car Parking and Arrival

Ample off road private parking is available at Piers-View.

Access to our property is gained from the rear car park areas following the paths leading to the front of the building. If arriving by public transport then access can be also then be made from the Cliff Path through our front gate.

This is well lit at night by outside lighting and motion sensors.

There are several steps either side of the building with a tread height of 200mm(8ins) and an entrance step of 130mm(5ins).

 

Welcome Area

Guests are welcomed in the hallway, which is level throughout,

where they are asked to register.

Guest are invited into the lounge on the same level and offered a welcoming beverage.

Assistance can be given with luggage.


Bedrooms

Our guest rooms are accessed by means of stairs with

16 steps 200mm (8ins). There is a hand rail on one

side. The family room is situated at the top of the house via another set of stairs which has another 16 steps 200mm(8ins)

Our beds are made up with duvets and standard pillows.

In the room there is seating, bedside tables, bedside lamps, a wardrobe, plus a chest of drawers, convector heaters and tea and coffee making facilities.

Each room has a flat screen Freeview digital TV with subtitles available and a clock radio alarm.

The 10 bedrooms with en-suite facilities have a standard shower cubicle, wash hand basin and toilet.

The seperate bathroom (with non-slip bath mat) incorporating a

shower fixture.


Public Areas - Halls, Stairs, Landings, Corridors

All public areas, hall, stairs, and landings have storage heating and are well lit using a combination of ceiling, wall and table-lamps.

The hallways stairs and landings are carpeted throughout.

There are no steps to the guest  dining room, lounge or the down

stairs toilet which lead off from the hallway..

There are automatic audible smoke alarms in the main and

upper halls.


Dining Room

The dining room is situated off the hallway on the

ground floor and the entrance is 700mm (30ins) wide and step

free/level entry.

Fully carpeted.

Large windows allowing plenty of natural light supplemented by

adjustable overhead fan and wall lights.

There is seating for upto 24 people at tables with padded seated

chairs.

All food is served to our guests by Danae.

 

Garden

For guests we have a large paved patio area leading to gardens which guests may use as a designated smoking area, as smoking is not permitted in the property. An ash tray can be provided on request. Parents with young children should be aware that the garden has a raised pond which is 1200mm(4ft)deep but covered with a net.


Additional Information

There are ‘In Case of Fire’ instructions posted on the back of

the guest room doors.

There is an information folder for each of the bedrooms.

We have storage for cyclists.

We cater for vegetarians and special diets. Please advise us before your arrival.

We can refrigerate prescription medication.

Mobile phone reception at Piers-View is generally good.

Information Updates

We are pleased to say that we will be beginning our 2024 season on the 23rd March!

 

For this forthcoming 2024 season we will be continuing to only offer Bed and Breakfast with the option of Sunday and Wednesday evening meals.

 

This year we are once again offering the Easter Special, and new to this year we are also offering an Early May Bank holiday break too!

Easter will be from Good Friday 29th March to Monday 1st April/ Tuesday 2nd April.  

And the May break will be from Friday 3rd May to Monday 6th May/ Tuesday 7th May.

3 nights at £190 per person. 4 nights at £245 per person. This price includes Bed & Breakfast and a 3 course Evening meal.
